R&B singer, Mary J. Blige, filed for divorce from her husband/manager of 12 years, Martin “Kendu” Isaacs, on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, citing “irreconcilable differences” and listed the date of separation as “to be determined.” In addition, she also requested that Isaacs not receive spousal support.

Blige and Isaacs married in December 2003, and have no children together. Isaacs has three children from a previous relationship.

The marriage is rumored to be due to Isaacs alleged affair with Starshell, a 28-year old singer who was signed to Blige’s Matriarch Entertainment record label and was mentored by Blige.

Isaacs is reportedly asking for $129,319 a month in order to continue with the lifestyle to which he has become accustomed to over the couple’s 12 years of marriage. He lists his parents and his three children as ongoing monthly expenses.

In court papers, the recording artist says their estate is “underwater” in the amount of $10 million and Isaacs contributes nothing to expenses and upkeep.

Blige’s attorney has filed a request with the court to uphold the parties prenuptial agreement signed on December 5, 2003, two days before they married. The attorney for Isaacs has called it “immensely invalid, unenforceable and unconscionable.” Isaacs claims that the agreement is invalid because he signed it without advice of counsel. The specifics of the agreement have not been made public.

Additional documents filed by Blige state that during the marriage, Isaacs took more than $420,000 listed under the guise of “travel charges” as her manager, except that  Blige has stated that these expenses were not business-related and did not include her. She alleges that Isaacs spent the monies on his girlfriend. She is also seeking the return of a Grammy, other unspecified “achievement awards”, and three luxury vehicles leased under her company’s name.
