The high-profile divorce between Hollywood actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie may soon be coming to an end, with reports circulating that the estranged couple has reached an agreement over custody of their six kids.

Since Angelina Jolie filed for divorce in September, the celebrity split has generated countless media headlines. While news of the divorce may be entertaining for moviegoers and readers of Hollywood gossip sites, the reality is that there are real lives being impacted by the Pitt-Jolie break-up. Chief among those who are likely to be adversely affected by the couple’s divorce are the six children. As is often the case in contentious divorce proceedings, child custody can be a particularly thorny issue that often requires the assistance of experienced, knowledgeable family law attorneys who can ensure that cooler heads prevail.

In the case of Pitt and Jolie, the child custody dispute was likely complicated by initial reports that Pitt was being investigated by authorities for alleged child abuse. Now it appears that the entire situation has been resolved and that the estranged Hollywood power couple has worked out a legally binding custody agreement.

Although Pitt and Jolie are huge stars, they are also human beings. Throughout the divorce proceedings, both parents have made it clear that their top priority is their children. Their actions seem to confirm this, with a representative for Jolie recently speaking to the media and stating that Pitt and Jolie signed the child custody agreement after consulting with childcare professionals and deciding that an amicable resolution would be in the best interests of the kids.

The child custody arrangement reportedly calls for Jolie to get full physical custody of the children, with Pitt being granted therapeutic visits with the kids.

However, there are conflicting media reports that the child custody arranged could be short lived. That’s because Pitt is reportedly still seeking joint custody on a permanent basis, with the current child custody arrangement meant only to run through the end of the divorce proceedings.
