Camden County Divorce LawyerJesse Williams and Aryn Drake-Lee married in 2012 and have two young children. Now, however, they plan to split, according to a recent article in the Huffington Post.

The Grey’s Anatomy star and his wife met over a decade ago, while Williams was teaching in a New York high school. In 2016, he thanked his “amazing” wife in his acceptance speech for the Humanitarian Award. While the couple’s representatives did not reply to a Huffington Post request for a statement, to date it appears the divorce is an amicable one, according to the Post.

Even when you and your spouse agree that it’s time to end your marriage, divorce can be a stressful process. You’ll still need to agree with one another on a wide range of topics, from how to split up the family home and furniture to how you’ll continue to raise your children. Negotiating these topics can be tense, and at times, it may feel as if your “amicable” separation isn’t amicable at all.

Fortunately, there are several options available for resolving issues during a divorce that don’t require you to go to court. While a courtroom trial is always a final option, opportunities like mediation can allow couples to work together in a more structured environment to find solutions that will work for everyone involved.

For example, in mediation, spouses work together with a neutral third-party mediator, whom they can choose. While the mediator may have experience in dispute resolution and family law, the mediator may not require either person to accept a decision they don’t want.

Instead, the mediator’s responsibility is to help you keep the channels of communication open, finding common ground and focusing on workable resolutions to the problem. Spouses who participate in mediation can also bring their respective attorneys along for additional support and advice.

While the decision to divorce is often a difficult one, the process can offer opportunities to put your life on track to a better future. Working with an experienced family law attorney can help you understand your options to build that future.
