Celebrity breakups, unfortunately, make the news all too often but can highlight the fact that marriages that seem intact and perfect or were celebrated by Hollywood are not as impenetrable as previously thought. Everyone faces a risk of divorce and unfortunately, if individuals within the couple change, divorce risks may be much higher.

When celebrity couples call it quits, it’s often a public spectacle that puts their family and property issues front and center. For that reason, many try to keep the details of their dissolution as private as possible.

News reports show that Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen, a popular Hollywood couple, may have split up. According to a source who revealed this information to U.S. Weekly, the couple has been struggling for the last several months and alleged that the physical distance between them played a role in the split since Billson lives full time in Los Angeles at the same time that Christensen is based in Toronto, Canada.

A separate source later confirmed the split and said that it was a buildup of problems and issues over time and both parties agreed that it was time to end the relationship. It is always difficult to break the news about your decision to get divorced to friends and family members and the stakes may be higher if you are a celebrity or a public official.

Regardless, no matter who you are, it can be difficult to make the decision to divorce and to decide to move forward with your life if you do not have an experienced lawyer to help you. An initial consultation can give you more information about how to protect your interests going forward.
